You
start down on the right of this picture, and walk up Pike o' Blisco,
which is rising on the left. Crinkle Crags are in the distance, with
the summit of Bowfell slightly hidden by cloud.
This is the top of Pike o' Blisco, with Bowfell filling the
horizon. You can see the path up Bowfell from Three Tarns,
and the Band path back down into Langdale.
The ridge walk, from Crinkle Crags on the left to Bowfell on the
right. Esk Pike is hidden by Bowfell. This picture
was taken from near the top of Cold Pike. Pike o' Blisco is
around to the right.
Here is the Bad Step, below Crinkle 2, which is in fact the top point
of Crinkle Crags. You either scramble up, as in the second
picture, or you walk round the buttress on the right hand side of the
path.
Bowfell.
If you are returning home from Bowfell, you can just re-trace your
steps to Three Tarns and then take the Band path, but a good variation
is to drop down, via the well named Great Slab, to the Climbers'
Traverse, where you look up at Bowfell Buttress, a mecca for climbers.
An easy end to a long, strenuous day! The Band path down from Bowfell
to the valley.
