The first picture shows the top of Gable on its special day of the year - Remembrance Sunday, when hundreds of people gather to pay tribute to those who died in past conflicts, especially those from the Fell and Rock Climbing Club, who owned the central fell-tops until they gave them to the National Trust in the 1920s.  In 2004 we had a miserable, rainy day, but the weather in 2005 was beautiful, as you can see.

The other pictures show Wastwater from the Westmorland Cairn;then the crags below the cairn; and, lastly, the view east towards the Langdale Pikes.  You can see Sprinkling Tarn on the right, just in the shadow of Great End.


These are the views from the top of Gable down to Green Gable via Windy Gap.  The path up and down is now badly eroded, as can be seen.


The last picture above shows Styhead Tarn to the east of Windy Gap - and the path beyond, up to Esk Hause.  Below is the view west from Windy Gap, into Ennerdale.  Kirk Fell is on the left, in front of Pillar.  You can see the profile of famous Pillar Rock, which attracts rock climbers in large numbers.
